City of Dallas


Dallas, the county seat for Paulding County, was incorporated February 8, 1854. The city was named for George M. Dallas of Pennsylvania, who was vice president under James Polk. The county courthouse, built in 1892, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

In and around Dallas, there are two historic sites and monuments, Pickett's Mill site and New Hope Church monument. The Pickett's Mill Battlefield State Historic site is said to be one of the best-preserved Civil War battlefields in the nation. This 468-acre park is the site of the ten-day battle of Pickett's Mill.
